What the hell is this? Into the Unknown is a comic idea I've been toying with for a many years now in one form or another. It started out in High School as a crappy Jhonen Vasquez-style rip off that featured myself, my friends, and some imaginary characters as reporters for a tabloid. It was basically a way to entertain myself and my friends. It was called "Short Order Comix" and it was fun. Eventually, after going through a lot of growing pains, the basic concept gradually metamorphasized over the course of seven or so years into something way different, something stranger and more serious. Something with nuts and teeth that farts a cocktail of nerve gas and LSD in your face. Something I wanted to do - that ordered me to do it. This comic is, at it's heart, about a journey into the unknown (hence the title) and how we are compelled to explore all unknowns. Yes, it is very derivitave. Yes, I hope that it gains a following and that I can eventually publish and market it in paperback graphic novel format. Yes, I do have backups of higher-quality versions in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Comic Life. Yes, I am probably crazy for hoping for that to come to pass. |
